- Tips to create accessible excel sheets
- Search for ‘accessible templates.
- Add title and other important information (File > Info > Properties)
- Provide unique and descriptive sheet names. Replace the generic “sheet 1, sheet2” with more descriptive name.
- Insert tables with headers (Select table > Insert tab > Table > mark ‘My table has headers’)
- Avoid merging or splitting cells in tables.
- Ensure to select the appropriate cell formatting that fits your content
- Adjust column Height/width to be easier to read.
- Use Sans Serif fonts for excel sheets, with 11 points size minimum
- Do not use color as the only means of distinguishing information
- Avoid using strikethrough, highlighting, dropcap,Word Art, Smart Art, text effects, ungrouped related shapes, symbols
- Provide descriptive concise alternative text to images, by right-clicking on the images and press (view alt text)
- Run accessibility checker (Search ‘Accessibility’ or review > ‘Check Accessibility’)
